Hello! I am Karla and I have been a single foster/adoptive parent for more than 30 years. It has been the journey of a lifetime (literally). I am also a retired Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner with a career that spanned more than 30 years. I come from a large, loving family and I am gifted with an amazing faith community and a large social circle that includes friends from childhood, various work settings and other amazing folks that are on foster care and adoption journeys.
I have had kids over the years from many different backgrounds of trauma and neglect and have tried to create a home for healing and growth. Along the way, I also discovered healing and growth for myself. The stories of each child are unique and beautiful, and each child has given me a world of sadness and delight and painful learning curves as well as deep connections and unexpected gifts.
I would choose this particular parenting journey over and over again…. Oh, yeah, I have!
